'A dead Iraqi is just another dead Iraqi... You know, so what?'

"Through a combination of gung-ho recklessness and criminal behaviour born of panic, a narrative emerges of an army that frequently commits acts of cold-blooded violence. A number of interviewees revealed that the military will attempt to frame innocent bystanders as insurgents, often after panicked American troops have fired into groups of unarmed Iraqis. The veterans said the troops involved would round up any survivors and accuse them of being in the resistance while planting Kalashnikov AK47 rifles beside corpses to make it appear that they had died in combat."

This war is changing our men and women soldiers. It is having negative mental side effects, which is making them do things they wouldn't normally do. We don't want this for our country.

Your ignorance is quite astounding.

You bemoan the US troops in Iraq, imply they are cold blooded killers, worry about the plight of the iraqis, and call for US troop withdrawl.

Will you weap for the tens of thousands slaughtered if the US leaves prematurely?

Had you been old enough, would you cared about the millions slaugtered in Vietnam after we abandon that cause?

Will watching Fox News make me less "ignorant"? What a stupid comment.

They have been wrong about all their predictions and strategies, yet you still believe them and support them. Who is the ignorant one?

The Domino Theory was false. Pre-emptive war for freedom is false. You have to believe in the ideas of freedom and justice. You have to believe that these ideas will win the world over eventually. Did you learn nothing from the Cold War? People of the world want McDonalds and Coke. When we are good role models, they will demand it from their leaders. We cannot force it by killing people and acting oppositely.

Here is a question for you TTH. How many boat people were there before we withdrew from Vietnam?

Oh, one other point, you failed to address my main point.

Perhaps we were wrong to get involved in Vietnam, and Iraq. But the fact remains, that when we didn't finish the job and ran hitail from Vietnam, millions were slaughtered. Most military experts, as well as the Secretary General of your beloved UN, agree that the same would most likely happen if we leave Iraq.

You are right TTH, the Peace movement's belief is that "A dead iraqi is just another dead Iraqi..."

"Many acknowledged that Iraq could first plunge into vicious sectarian fighting. . . . Yet they flatly rejected the use of U.S. troops to stop the killing. 'I wouldn't be surprised if it's horrendous,' said House Appropriations Committee Chairman David R. Obey, a Wisconsin Democrat who has helped lead the drive against the war. 'The only hope for the Iraqis is their own damned government, and there's slim hope for that.' "--Baltimore Sun, July 18, 2007
