White House opposes military pay raise

"The White House has come out in opposition to a proposal by Congress to raise military pay by 3.5 percent, according to a report by Army Times."

The Raw Story | White House opposes military pay raise

Why is it that Republicans wound up with the general perception that they were the ones "supporting the troops?" They are not. They are clearly doing the exact opposite. Everything from the Walter Reed scandal, to this, to unnecessary, pre-emptive wars prove otherwise. I've got the tip my hat the the Republican's public relations prowess, but deception can only last so long, and the price the party will pay will be America's distrust for years and maybe decades.
