U.S. to require electronic travel data

U.S. to require electronic travel data | Politics | Reuters: "WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States will make visa-free foreign travelers provide electronic information about themselves and their trip before they depart, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said on Tuesday."

This will be good for tourism. And keep believing the Republican line that they are pro-business, and Dems aren't.

Um, your ignorance is astounding.

You think that the Europeans don't track movement and capture data on travel? Seriously?

Find one European who objects to this (they are routinely subject to these intrusions), and then we will talk.

Now, if this were purely a domestic matter, I would share your alarm.

I have talked to Europeans, and they are deciding not to come to America as a result of these policies. In both Thailand and Laos I met travelers that have decided not to come to America for these reasons. Furthermore, how can you not see the negative business implications of this policy? Are you ignorant of basic economic principles? Of what am I astoundingly ignorant?

Really? Do you not travel to Europe because they track your movements?

I understand that it may inhibit some travel, but don't you see the double standard?

Actually, yes, I will likely not choose to travel to a country that requires my fingerprints.
