Bush Budget: Freeze Domestic Spending to Keep Spending in Other Countries

In a more than $3 trillion budget to be unveiled on Monday, Bush
wants to limit to less than 1 percent increases in spending on

National Taxpayers Union: Only Ron Paul Would Cut Spending
According to a report released Tuesday by the National Taxpayers Union, Texas Congressman Ron Paul is the only remaining presidential candidate who proposes net spending cuts. According to the report, Congressman Paul’s proposals would cut government spending by over $150 billion, a conservative estimate of the spending reductions Dr. Paul has proposed. With that in mind, Herbert Hoover -- only nine months into his presidency -- assembled leaders from the public and private sectors to create an economic-stimulus package. Among the measures, Time magazine reported at the time, was a promise from Congress to offer bipartisan support for a tax-cut package. The proposal called for $160 million in tax relief -- only about $22 billion if adjusted against the gross domestic product at the time, and therefore much smaller than the plan under consideration here in 2008.

reports that, during a private conversation with Israeli Prime Minister
Ehud Olmert, Bush "all but disowned" the agencies' Dec. 3 National
Intelligence Estimate on Iran. A "senior administration official who
accompanied Bush" on the trip confided to Hirsh that Bush "told the
Israelis that he can't control what the intelligence community says,
but that [the NIE's] conclusions don't reflect his own views."
Bush has revealed here what we all suspected, that in the lead up to the war on Iraq, he was following "his own views" and not the studied ones of the intelligence agencies. Bush follows his "views" in all to many of his policy decisions, not facts.
